Laser Dental Therapy

Lasers have become an incredible tool in dentistry. The advantage of using a laser is the energy is very targeted, meaning it does not cause trauma to other tissues. Laser dental therapy causes less post-operative discomfort, results in better healing and speeds recovery over traditional therapies.

Periodontal Laser Therapy

The only way to slow or stop the effects of gum disease is by physically removing the bacteria, plaque and calculus from underneath your gums. To treat gingivitis or periodontitis (gum disease) we may recommend laser dental therapy. Desert Sun Smiles uses a an advanced carbon dioxide laser which speeds up healing and improves the results of  traditional scaling and root planning. The laser energy gently removes a thin layer of the inflamed tissue that has become infected by its exposure to plaque and tarter. The laser energy also kills bacteria, promoting  improved healing.

Laser Gum Recontouring

Many patients chose to have laser gum recontouring to improve the health and appearance of their smile. The removal of excess gum tissue using a laser is an improvement over traditional surgical techniques. The laser causes less tissue impact and therefore you will experience less discomfort, less swelling and much faster healing.
